I am interested in buying Far Cry 2, but every review and website I read says that you save your game in one of the "safe houses" that you find along the way.
One of the things that I absolutely DETESTED about the original FarCry (may it burn in hell) was the "checkpoint" save system.
So, is there anyone out there who owns the PC version of FarCry 2 who can tell me if it has the same save system as every other shooter ever made? Or does it only have the "safe house" save system?

Well it's coming to about that time again! It's been seven years since I attended AC and it's about time I made a trip down south. I am going to register this week and hopefully, if my job works out for the next three months and I am able to find a ride and room, this wolf is going to be invading Pittsburg in July.
I had loose plans to ride down with my neighbours, so I need to check on that. I'd like to go down the day before the con and come home the day after. So Wednesday until Monday. I'd need similar accomodations as well. Wed-Mon.
If anyone is attending AC this year and can offer me either, please let me know. I'd really like to room with people that I know.

Well first of all I apologize for my LJ being 90% "doom and gloom" but that's honestly the type of person I am sometimes when I need to vent. And LJ is a good place to vent, because even if nobody leaves a comment, you can at least type out how you feel and generally feel better afterwards.
MY JOB SUCKS
Well ok, to be fair the job is pretty good. It's not overly difficult. There are a few procedures that are difficult to remember and follow (and might cost the company a lot of money if not done, or not done right), and I hate working with numbers. So the job isn't too bad. I'm very good at dealing with people over the phone and I believe I have excellent customer service skills. My problem is with the business itself.
After going through four weeks of training without being paid, we were told that there was a fuckup in payroll and we would be issued cheques instead of direct deposit. Everyone grumbled but accepted it because at least we were still getting paid. Afterwards we were given a memo stating that the new direct deposit system wasn't working and we'd be getting cheques for the next 3 months until they get a new system working. This is very bad for two reasons...
1) I work until 6pm and my bank mostly closes around 4pm on weekdays, not open weekends.
2) When I deposit my cheques, the bank holds the check for 5 days and only releases $250 at the time of deposit.
I tried to buy lunch yesterday and the debit machine said I had insufficient funds. There is still a hold on my cheque deposited on Tuesday. I can't buy food or anything right now until the money clears. I also owe my roommate $120 because I had to choose between paying all of my rent, or being able to buy a bus pass so I could go to work the next day. On the day we were paid, I saw a supervisor giving a co-worker shit because she asked to leave early to get to her bank because it closed before we were let out of work.
I am planning to switch banks. The TD Canada Trust banks are open until like 8pm and they are also open on weekends.
Oh, another reason why my workplace sucks is that they don't really give two shits about the employees. I was VERY ILL three weeks ago. I was coughing, had a fever, the works. I took two days off work and I actually got shit from the HR lady because I was sick for two days. So I was feeling crappy on Friday too and called in sick and... get this... three hours later the HR person called me and gave me shit for calling in sick. I have NEVER worked at a job where anyone did this.
I really need to start looking for another job. Someplace that pays as well as this job, but doesn't have a payroll made up of idiots, and actually gives 2 shits about their employees.
And I am still sick and feeling crappy. Been sick and crappy for like 4 weeks now and I don't need to deal with all of this crap and the other things that I have to deal with in my life right now.

I think I have a lump on my testicle.
I've noticed it there for about a month at least. I really didn't think it was anything. I thought maybe it was a bulge where the tube runs from my testicle into my body. It's a bit firm and roughly the size of a pea.
So on Thursday I am going to the Men's Clinic downtown just to get it checked out. It may be nothing, but I want to find out for sure.

When I have my space heater turned on, and the furnace is on, I get this FREEZING COLD draft blowing through my room. Mind you, my room is already freezing cold, and there is barely any air blowing from the heating duct. I can't figure out why I have this freezing cold draft blowing even when I have two heat sources.
My window is also frozen. I don't know if it's poorly insulated, but I have ice on one side of my window, which is of course radiating cold air into my room.
It's double depressing because I have to keep my space heater on when I am in my room because the heating duct doesn't do anything. Even when I am wearing long pants and a sweater, and socks and slippers, my feet and toes are like ice. And the electricity used by my space heater is probably costing much more than the gas to heat the OTHER rooms in the house.
I filed a repair order to have the source of the cold draft examined and fixed somehow. It's not fair that I am driving up the electricity bill so I don't freeze my tail off.

About a year ago, I was eating peanuts and a filling came out. For the past year I have had a hole in my molar, and it has slowly eroded and chipped away. I have also developed a gap between my two molars, which is annoying because food always get stuck in there.
After eating popcorn tonight and picking the bits out with a toothpick... a large chip came out of my tooth. The gap is larger now, exposing the hole in my tooth and creating a sharp edge on my tooth. I can't stop running my tongue along it (it's fascinating, actually).
This goes well beyond seeing the dentist. I may need dental SURGERY at this point. I REALLY fucking hope I get a job soon that has good dental coverage. I am going straight to the dentist as soon as my coverage kicks in.

One of the problems that you encounter while looking for work, is the misleading messages that employers leave in their job postings. For example, Toronto is surrounded by several smaller cities that are north of the city, that have their own transit system, or you have to pay double fare when riding the Toronto system. I've applied for several jobs that advertise as being "Toronto, North", but have turned out to be in one of those towns that I cannot access.
The most recent was in Vaughan, which is North of Toronto above Jane St. Pretty much N/W of Toronto. The website really should have an option to select each of the cities that are North of Toronto. I have applied for several jobs, hoping for a job in Toronto, North, only to recieve news that the location is in Vaughan, or Thornhill, Brampton, or Markham.
The second problem that I have is with people's definition of "Customer Service". CSR's make a lot of money, and there are a lot of job postings for people who can do Customer Service. Unfortunately the definition of CSR ranges from "someone who answers incoming customer inquiries", to "outbound collections agent". So, in my search for a good, well paid CSR position, I find so many that turn out to be some sort of outbound, harassing former clients, collections agency, or even working behind the counter at a fast food restaurant. Which, I admit, COULD be defined as "customer service", but not in the same context that I am searching for.
So, the search continues!
The good news is that I was accepted into CARD again, and I will be volunteering there on afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I really hope I find a job soon, but until then I will find relaxation and responsibility with the horses at CARD.
No joke... if you're stressed and need to find a way to relax... get a horse. It's fucking THERAPY.

Bowring fired me today. Apparently it was over me working too slowly.
I guess they wanted to hire a fucking robot Superman or something. I was honestly working as fast as I could. I pulled the same muscle in both legs and I have trouble walking around the house (damn stairs), my arms AND my hands (my hands?) are just throbbing sore, and they expect me to work faster than this? I am BROKEN. =P
I got a txt message from branwyn saying that the Esso gas station up the street is hiring. I need to buy some groceries at the store there today, so I might as well bring a resume.

So I've been working at Bowring store for two weeks now and I thought I'd make a quick post about it. I do stock and S&R for the retail store in Fairview Mall, North York. It's not very difficult, since I have done S&R and heavy lifting at a lot of previous jobs. But it's a bit difficult to get started on my own. It's not that I'm not motivated. But when I come back to work after my days off and don't know what has been done all weekend, and my boss looks at me and says she can't tell me what to do all the time, it's a bit frustrating. There's also time constraints. Some days we get two skids of boxes. Some days we get four. Apparently the most they had in one day was around seven I think. She's already told me I am working too slow, and I need to pick up the pace if I want to be able to tackle more than three skids in one day. It took us long enough to do two skids the one day. And sometimes the skids don't come until 11am. So we are doing odd jobs and helping with the store layout for two hours. I've been frustrated and aggravated more than once since working there. I guess last week was the worst week so far. I worked nine hours on Tuesday because they asked me to stay a bit late, and then the evening stock guy didn't come, so I had to stay LATER to clean up and put a bunch of boxes down in the basement store room. I also started an hour early on Wednesday (9 hours, both days) and on Friday I was working with my boss's son and his friend in the basement store room, cleaning it up and sorting the merchandise. That was a pain in the ass. And I hate it when she talks to me like I don't know what I am doing. Well, sometimes I don't, but that should really fall on her shoulders for not educating me about certain things. And it makes me feel stupid, which is the other problem. I'm not stupid. But there are some days when something happens and I just feel like," Oh fuck, I'm going to get fired." It wouldn't be the first job that I got fired from because I wasn't good enough, or fast enough. I was stuck doing some odd jobs around the store today. I hung a few pictures and wall mounts. I arranged some displays. I took some things down to the basement. Then just after 2pm she told me that there wasn't going to be a shipment today, and let me out early. I also hadn't slept well all weekend, and I am feeling kinda blah (it's raining out too), and a little depressed. Probably just down from the lack of sleep and feeling upset because it's raining. My foot was wet because my shoe is coming apart at the sole and I need to buy new ones. But I'm broke as a joke. So I need to set aside some money from my next pay in two weeks to buy some decent shoes, without spending a lot of money. I kinda got off track. So yeah, I'll try to keep you folks updated. I'm REALLY sorry for not being on LJ as much as I used to. I never post anything or read my Friends pages anymore. And I feel like I've gotten kinda disconnected from my friends. I miss hearing about you, and from you. I'll try to make a better effort to be more social. Right after I get to level 70. >__>

I heard a lot of bad things about the director of the Postal movie. But after watching the movie, I'd have to say it was pretty damn good. It was full of WTF?, but I'd have to say it was very amusing and I'd give it a 4 out of 5 at least.

Well, I have three days until Camp Feral! starts. I've been running around like crazy trying to get things done. The two friends who are crashing with me arrive tomorrow, and I have to work during the day. So here are all of the things that I have to accomplish by around 10-11pm tonight. It is now... 4:56pm.
- go to the gym
- come home and shower
- make dinner
- pre-mix the tracks for my set at the Feral! Rave to make sure the tracks work together, and also fit into my 90-minute timeslot
- arrange the tracks for the Sponsor's Event and pre-mix them to make sure everything sounds good.
- finish a conbadge for someone
- do my laundry; clothes, bedding, etc
- sew up the hole in my AMAZING favorite pants!
- take time to breathe
- make a list of things to bring to camp, and things I need to pick up
Hookay... it's 4:58pm.... 1....2....3... GO!
